Student Welfare
This school, in partnership with parents and the wider community, provides effective learning and teaching within a secure well-managed environment, leading our students to acquire values that will support a positive climate and good discipline. The school aims to teach students to be autonomous and responsible people who are able to be resilient in the face of the challenges of life. We have high expectations of our students and expect that they will seek to improve and maintain high standards in their learning and behaviour.
Rights & Responsibilities
Teachers use the framework of rights and responsibilities as the basis for social learning in the school. Students revisit the 6 areas of responsibility each year in term 1 as a whole school focus.
Addressing Misbehaviour
Students have a right to learn in conditions that facilitate learning and teachers have a right to teach. Students who interfere with these rights do not have a right to remain in the classroom, or in the end, in the school. The school has developed a structured form of "Time Out" for disruptive students.
Student Council
Each class from Y2- Y6 nominates two students to represent them on the Student Council. These students receive training in leadership and running meetings so that they can effectively report back to the SRC, suggestions made by students for improving the school. The SRC meets each fortnight and class meetings are held every other week to discuss the agenda.
