Teaching Staff

The executive comprises the Principal, Deputy Principal and four Assistant Principals . There are 24 classroom teachers. Support staff include a Librarian, School Counsellor, Reading Recovery and Support Teacher Learning Difficulties (STLD), English as a Second Language (ESL).

Ancillary Staff

The ancillary staff consists of an Administrative Manager, two Administrative Officers and a General Assistant.

Parents

Samuel Gilbert has a strong relationship with the community which fosters active participation by the parents within the school. The P&C Association meetings are well attended and provide support and feedback necessary for the smooth running of the school. Parent helpers are numerous and assist with such activities as reading, library, excursions, canteen, band, uniform shop and after school care.

Students

There are approximately 570 students enrolled in the school with around three parallel classes in each grade. There are also 3 composite classes- 4/5/6, 3/4 and 1/2. Students in composite classes are chosen carefully for their independent work habits and those in the mainstream classes represent the full spectrum of learning abilities. Many children live within walking distance of the school, although a number do catch the bus. Our students generally display a love of learning and take up the many opportunities available to them.
