Playground
Children K-6 share in all aspects of the playground. The court-yard area is set aside for marked games such as hand-ball. The multi-purpose court is used for netball, basket-ball and tennis, while adjacent to it is a quiet area for respite from the heat. A large oval at the back of the school is well used by children for larger game activities such as soccer, touch football and cricket. Two practice cricket nets and two sturdy and colourful sets of climbing equipment complete what is available for student use. Our grounds are extensive.
Library
The library is open each morning before school (except Wednesday) and open at lunchtimes for classes on a rotational basis. Kindergarten students are welcome at the Library every lunchtime. Our computerised management system allows the flexibility to encourage the borrowing and return of books outside lesson periods. The normal borrowing time for a book is a fortnight and students can borrow up to four books using a library bag. The addition of air-conditioning, funded by the P&C, has enhanced the library as a work space. The Library is very well resourced with an exciting range of books.
See the Library News Page.
Computer Lab
A modern, air-conditioned lab with 32 computers and an Interactive White Board encourages a high level of computer competence in students. A specialist computer teacher works with the class teacher during classes for periods of five weeks at a time during the year and the new skills learnt are then continued on by the class teacher in a 40 minute session once a week and by using classroom computers. Skills learnt by students include:
- Word processing
- Using the Internet
- Touch Typing
- Student generated Web Page
- Use of Databases
- Use of Spreadsheets
