'Read For Life' and Stewart House
Samuel Gilbert Public School always tries to support a number of charities and causes.
Two causes that we support that are working together in 2009 are Stewart House and 'Read for Life'.
The 'Read for Life' Project is a way of introducing books and reading to children in communities where books are scarce or nonexistent.
The program collects books to send to struggling rural communities and to Stewart House.
Stewart House is hoping to provide each child who stays with them, a take-home-bookpack, to help further their interest in reading and learning.
Thank you to the many families who have supported this program. We have been able to collect many hundreds of books. These books have been distributed to Stewart House and families in need.
From Stewart House...
Here are some photos of the children reading the lovely books that were donated to Stewart House.
So far the books have gone to the following areas:
Queanbeyan, Granville, Coffs Harbour, Clarence Area, Orange, Liverpool and Port Macquarie.

It is wonderful to see the children take books home and they are very appreciative of the lovely books that are on offer to them.
