Classroom work focuses heavily on the four strands of English, namely Reading and Writing, Talking and Listening. This is done through themes, topic talks, the study of novels and dramatisation.

Reading is taught by matching students to their correct reading level and by using a variety of strategies eg. Reciprocal, guided, shared and independent reading. This is reinforced with a solid Home Reading Scheme in Kindergarten and Year 1.
